Almost Impossible To Catch Up With ‘Iljimae’

Well in fact you can remove the “almost” from the title. The winner is clear, the others aren’t going to be able to catch up with “Iljimae“. According to TNS Media, “Iljimae” achieves a viewer rating of 24.6% on thursday and this is more than the ratings of both its rivals combined.

KBS2’s “Women of The Sun” obtains a 11.3% rating on thursday while MBC’s “Spotlight” gets 8.8%. “Iljimae” has been on the top spot ever since its premiere on the 21st of May. The difference in ratings has always been huge between “Iljimae” and its competitors.

In response to the news, a related personnel from the “Iljimae” team reveals that their target is 30%. Hence, the current rating is not “satisfactory” and they are going to work hard towards their target.

Viewer ratings are not necessary reflective of the quality of a drama. “Iljimae” is really exceptional but the other two aren’t too bad either. For me personally, I feel that all three dramas are on par with one another in overall quality. I liked all three of them! What I can say is that the power of Lee Jun Ki is simply overwhelming and coupled with the fact that sageuk drama tends to receive more attention than modern ones in Korea.

It is already more than halfway through the drama and the viewership ratings has more or less stablized around this range. 30% is in sight but will it be able to break it?
